Y.1 Person Introduction – Andy Kaufman
*This was completed in Broadcast Design.
ANDY KAUFMAN is an eccentric comedian who rose to fame in the 70′s up until his untimely death in the mid-80′s. His unconventional humor provided a unique level of entertainment. Sometimes the “punchlines” to his “joke” was the audience, innovating a wholly personal and unique genre of comedy.
CONCEPT:
One of Kaufman’s biggest breaks came when he innocently lip-synced the chorus to the “Might Mouse” theme song.
The concept takes this defining moment in his career and tuns with it. Using the classic karaoke-bouncing-ball-routine as a jumping off point, the ball transforms into Kaufman’s body. The lyrics gradually grows to become obstacles he must overcome. The lyrics highlighted provide an ironic foreshadowing to how tragic Kaufman’s life actually turned out. I used his vaudevillian comedic set as a visual language to illusutrate his career.
Hahaha. nice.
1. Bouncing ball animation has to be improved greatly, make it look like a really good bouncing ball.
2. I want to see the transition from Ball to the running ANDY…That would be a great payoff.
3. I think Andy running looks fine. No complaints yet.
4. The falling is cool to at the end.
5. The music ending is a but weird thou, it just fades off….I think it should end by having the running man fall and hit the logo. which would make the music stop and the loog red.
Try it, lets see.
